Full Itinerary
Day 1 – Scenic Drive to the Primate Capital of the World
Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe. You drive west through beautiful countryside, tea plantations, and local communities. Along the way, you stop for lunch in Fort Portal town.
In the afternoon, you arrive at Kibale Forest National Park, famous for its rich primate diversity. You check in at your lodge and relax. Later, you enjoy a guided nature walk around the crater lakes area. Finally, you settle in for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. You then enter the forest with experienced guides. You observe chimpanzees as they feed, play, and move through the trees. However, you may also spot other primates and forest birds.
After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the evening, you enjoy a short game drive. Therefore, you may spot elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes before sunset.
Day 3 – Wildlife Viewing and Boat Safari Experience
You start the day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. You search for lions, leopards, elephants, and Uganda kobs. Moreover, the open savannah offers excellent photography opportunities.
After lunch, you enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. This cruise brings you close to hippos, crocodiles, and large herds of elephants. Additionally, you see many water birds along the banks. In the evening, you relax at the lodge and enjoy dinner.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Following breakfast, you depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey passes through the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. Therefore, you keep your camera ready.
You continue through rolling hills and rural landscapes. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you check in at your lodge near the gorilla trekking sector. You attend a short briefing about the next day’s trek. Finally, you rest early in preparation for the highlight of the safari.
Day 5 – Gorilla Trekking and Return Journey
After an early breakfast, you transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. You join a small group and enter the forest with armed rangers. The trek may take several hours. However, the experience remains deeply rewarding.
You spend one unforgettable hour with a mountain gorilla family. You observe their behavior and interactions in silence. After the trek, you receive a trekking certificate. Later, you begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, marking the end of your safari.
