Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Mabamba Swamp Birding
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your guide welcomes you and briefs you on the safari. Afterward, you transfer to Mabamba Swamp for a canoe birding excursion. This wetland offers prime chances to spot the elusive Shoebill Stork. Additionally, you may see African Jacana, Papyrus Gonolek, and Malachite Kingfisher.
Later, you return to Entebbe for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Entebbe – Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you drive north toward Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, you make birding stops to observe roadside and woodland species. Meanwhile, the changing landscapes introduce new habitats and birdlife.
In the afternoon, you enter the park and enjoy an evening game drive. Consequently, you may encounter giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and several savannah bird species.
Day 3: Murchison Falls – Game Drive & Nile Boat Safari

Day 4: Murchison Falls – Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you drive southwest toward Kibale Forest National Park. This scenic journey passes through farmlands, forests, and tea plantations. Meanwhile, birding en route adds value to the long drive.
In the evening, you arrive at the lodge and enjoy forest bird calls. Therefore, you prepare for the primate-rich environment ahead.
Day 5: Kibale Forest – Birding & Bigodi Wetland
Today, you explore Kibale Forest for birding. The forest hosts over 370 bird species, including the Green-breasted Pitta and African Grey Parrot. Additionally, you may encounter several primate species during the walk.
Later, you visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-run area supports wetland birds and offers cultural interaction. Consequently, your visit contributes directly to conservation efforts.
Day 6: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the scenic crater lakes region. Along the route, you enjoy photographic stops and bird sightings.
In the afternoon, you take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This channel attracts large concentrations of waterbirds, elephants, and buffaloes. Furthermore, it provides excellent opportunities for close-range photography.
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth – Ishasha Sector – Bwindi Area
Early in the morning, you drive to the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. During the game drive, you search for these unique predators and open savannah bird species.
Later, you continue to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest area. As the terrain changes, you encounter montane bird species and breathtaking landscapes.
Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Birding Experience
Today, you dedicate the day to birding in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This UNESCO World Heritage Site hosts Albertine Rift endemics such as the African Green Broadbill and Regal Sunbird.
Moreover, the forest walk offers a chance to see primates and butterflies. Therefore, this day stands out as a highlight for serious birders.
Day 9: Bwindi – Entebbe & Departure
After breakfast, you transfer back to Entebbe by road or domestic flight. Along the way, you enjoy final birding stops and scenic views.
